HIGA MONSTER's workout at "Imperial Fitness" (Kent, WA)

I need work on my shoulder flexibility because my clean on the Axle was HORRIBLE.  My lower back still feels tired from the 100 back extensions I did on Monday night too.
Wore the old skool "Diamond Plate" Bulky Boy shirt today for the workout...

HIGA MONSTER and his Sunday workout at "Imperial Fitness" (Kent, WA)

Mahalos to Keola DeCaires for sending me this shirt from Detroit!  I met Keola at the "Arnold Sports Festival" this year at the Animal Pak CAGE & bruddah said he would send me a shirt.  Thanks brah!

A rare Sunday workout for me, but I had to make up for it since we went to the UFC Fight Night yesterday!

Saw my boy Shawn "Millertime" Miller in front of Key Arena.

Gurdy & Michelle

Jason & Allison.

This dude was ready for the fights.

I was so happy that "Bruce Leroy" got choked out by "Mack da Menace".  I can't stand Bruce Leroy.

UFC® Fight Night 24™: Nogueira vs. Davis "LIVE" from Key Arena (Seattle, WA)

HIGA MONSTER is going to the UFC® tomorrow!  Can't wait!

The UFC® comes to Seattle for the first time!  I am psyched to go watch this fight card!  Especially, the rematch between the "Korean Zombie" vs Leonard "Bad Boy" Garcia.  Their fight in 2010 was dubbed the "Fight of the Year" and possibly the "Fight of the Decade".

My tickets are in hand and I will definitely be repping the Bulky Boy clothing at Key Arena tomorrow.

I will take lots of pictures and videos!  As my friend Joe Gulisao in Hawai'i always says on fight night, "PUT THE BODIES ON DA FLOOR!!!!!"

Ken Nowicki, Brit GP

Just sitting in London City Airport before flying to Glasgow so thought I'd use the opportunity for a quick write up from the weekend.

My comp went pretty well; I finished 7th from the 25 guys competing, but it was a little bitter sweet since I was aiming for top 5... On the other hand massively better than my showing at Arnold's.

The pro show today was just insane! Brian Shaw and Loz Shahlaei both pulling 430k deadlifts; Shaw doing an easy 205k axle and 6 reps on the 100k giant db; and then chatting with and helping Brian get ready for stones.

First event of my show was the carry and load medley. A 130k keg and 130k sack to be lifting, carried about 10/ 15m and loaded onto a 48" platform. Was a little worried about this cause ever since coming back from Arnold's my cardio has been feeling terrible, but the wee 3 day blast I did last week seemed to kick it back to normal. I did this in 27.98s and was top 6 I think.

Next up was log press and was 130k for reps from the floor. I had only been tripling it in training, but the aim was 5. Hit 3, heard 30s left so took a few seconds then popped up another. Stood for another break then got told 10s so straight back in, but was too out of breath to get enough pop into the press. 4 reps and happy enough with that.

Farmers next, 150s for 40m; 20m up break the line then 20m back and fully across the finish. This was another I was a tad worried about due to them having thick handles and what happened at Arnold's. Those worries soon disappeared in the warm ups though and I finished the course in 19.07 missing taking the lead by 0.04s, overall a 4th place here, which should have been 3rd if I hadn't taken that extra second to rest my grip twice.

Stone last, I believe the weights were 110, 130, 150, 172, 177k to the same 48" platform. I got a pot of SpiderTacky off my awesome sponsor StrengthShop and I really can't say enough about the stuff, it's AMAZING!! I completed the course, but it was a mega slow time of 47.??s, but on the other hand the 4th and then 5th stones were both PB loads. I really want to nail our 187k stone by NEC now haha!!

Anyway, that's my wee story. The weekend was fantastic, met some new people and caught up with a good few old faces. Onto the next... BodyPower, I really can't wait!!

Ken Nowicki, Arnolds and Brit GP Prep Video

Well I did want to post this before I left for the Arnold, but got bogged down with packing and lab work so this is the first chance I've gotten. The Arnold Am is said and done, it didn't really go to plan and I finished 33/48.

The yoke went great and I'm really pleased about it, then the axle was a disaster, for somereason I just couldn't lock it out. The frame wasn't much better, the farmers I train on at home are standard diameter and the thicker handles on the frame here really screwed me over and I never finished the carry. So I went to the fatgripz booth and manage to aquire a free pair of fatgripz so I'm going to train farmers with them alot now so that I don't get screw again.

The car was another good one, I went first and pulled 14reps which was the lead for quite some time, plus I got to meet and talk to Arnold about 3mins after the event so that childhood dream sort of cheered me up after such a bad show.

Anyway, back to the drawing board to implement changes and improve for later in the year. Here is the video:

HIGA's final day at "The Arnold Sports Festival" (Columbus, Ohio)

At the airport right now in Ohio, waiting to catch my plane back home.  Another successful weekend at THE CAGE and got to see friends and meet some celebrities.  I am spent from working the booth this past 3 days but can't wait for next year!

The National "Animal Barbbell Club" at Metro Fitness (Columbus, Ohio)

Once a year during the Arnold Sports Festival, Animal Pak hosts a "National Animal Barbell Club" at Metro Fitness. The gym closes to the public and is only open to anyone that comes in with an ANIMAL shirt into the gym.
Its gives a chance for any of the members on the website to train alongside all the Pro athletes of Animal & Universal Nutrition.
There is a catered dinner, comraderie and an awesome atmosphere of lifting with fellow Animals.  3 hours of brotherhood, sisterhood and heavy iron lifting.
What a wonderful day it has been for HIGA MONSTER and its amazing at how you get fired up to workout with all these people, even after a long day standing at the booth and deadlifting 500 lbs for 19 reps!

Hope you enjoyed the videos!  The final day of the Expo is tomorrow, then I catch a flight back home to Seattle.  Mahalo to Bulky Boy for the sweet workout shorts you sent me!  They were killer to wear, and I even had some fellow Animal Pros say, "Higa, did you get some special shorts that say BULKY BOY made for you?  Those are sweet!"  That was in reference to the "Bruiser" shorts I wore while doing the 500 lb deadlift for reps.

Much mahalo!
